day 08.
Ahhhhhh, yes (read: I’m also v bummed) departure day. I woke up early. This was the only time I watched tv the whole trip. I binged the available episodes of #AndJustLikeThat, which eventually led me back to sleep. Once I woke up for real, I located a Starbucks, parked and began to tackle re-packing my bags, after I had gotten a whole week’s worth of cozy in the van, and with the couple little pick-ups I had gotten. Bound to make my already “heavy” checked back even heavier. On top of all the groceries, mainly beverages, I didn’t get to finish and wasn’t going to waste. With the entertainment of music, and phone time with friends, I finished packing, and cleaning up the van to my liking.
I pondered the perfect way to pass time/end my trip, and what better than a housewife spotting?? Unfortunately, the ones from #RHSLC that I cared about were out of town so I searched TikTok long and hard, for a cute, trendy restaurant for lunch. Nothing was moving me, and I happily settled for Jinya Ramen Bar. A favorite of mine in Atlanta. It wasn’t as good as back home, but the service was solid, and my server recommended a cookie place next door for something sweet after my salty ramen, called Crmbl. It was yummy.
By now its like 230 pm, and Connor had text that he was running a little behind because he was getting his booster. =)
I had seen this old looking building with a holiday festival vibe inside when I first arrived, and figured this was my opportunity to go by.
I went in and it felt a bit strange, a little like, these people aren’t used to seeing a black person like me (whatever that means) before. It worked out though, cause it allowed me to kill some time until Connor was back home and I grabbed some knick-knacks from a souvenir store that I really like.
From there, I drove a short 5-minutes up the road to drop off my #MightyVan. I was kinda sad to let it go. Connor arrived shortly after me. We did out post trip check, chopped it up for a few about my journey, and I called my uber and headed to the airport.
It was time, and I was ready to go back home.
All in all, this was a trip of a lifetime for me. As I’m typing right now, I can almost not even believe I did all this. It was so worth it, so amazing, so life-changing for me. I highly recommend, and would absolutely do it all again.
If you’re reading this and wanna talk any and all things Utah or camper van please reach out to me! I am happy to chat about this all day long. Even though I could’ve easily done this with (a) friend(s), I loved that I did this alone. I had time with and reminded myself of things that I wouldn’t change for anything. Grateful to my God for safe travels to and from Atlanta. Looking forward to more blogs, about more trips! =P
Til the next adventure…
