day 03.

Ah, yes! Waking up on the one day of the year that’s yours! I love it. It was a good, no, great, morning filled with texts, calls, smiles, tears, laughs and more. I took my time getting ready, juggling ft’s and djing in between. I made my way on a short 7 minute drive to Monument Valley. You have to get a permit to go in and this was the only site that gave a time limit for how long you could be touring (with that being said, I went a little over the 2-hour limit and it wasn’t a problem).

Monument Valley was insanely amazing! It felt very native and natural. I loved all the orange tones, and everything was so colossal. One of the first turnouts had the most amazing dreamcatcher vendor and I picked up 2 for me and 1 for the winner of the trivia question on my instastory. My numbs: go number, ily! The entire scenic loop was unpaved, so just something to keep in mind if you wanna add this to your #Utinerary. I just made that up, but I like it.

After I finished the sceneic loop I stopped in the gift shop and got some gifts for my mom and some frennnns. Made myself some lunch while parked in the parking lot and then hit the road to the grand canyon! Eeek! I’m excited all over again just writing it.

One thing that wasn’t ideal in my camper was the charging/music/Bluetooth situation. I couldn’t play music and charge at the same time. But the positive of that was it just gave me a lot of quiet time to reflect while charging, or be on the phone, which is perfect for your birthday. Lolol!

Anyway, I got the Grand Canyon much later than anticipated, and this was my first time pivoting from my thoughtfully and meticulously planned #utinerary. I had already learned my lesson for arriving after dark at campgrounds and I just wasn’t feeling it that night. The campground I had planned to stay at was hours away and it was already well after noon, I hadn’t even gone through the park yet. But thankfully they had campgrounds there and I was able to stay there.

This is how I spent my 29th birthday at the Grand Canyon.

EVERY. SINGLE. TURNOUT. At the Grand Canyon was just gobsmackingly magnificient. I mean wow. How did God create such a thing?! It is really mind blowing for me to think about how vast the canyon is. And just so beautiful as the sun set. This was one of the canyons that I met some really cool people along my journey thru the scenic drive. The views were amazing. I was holding on to every bit of sunlight.

After the sun set, I made my way to the village and hit the gift shop. The clerk in the shop recommended a pizza place just in the next town, and that was exactly what I wanted for my birthday dinner. Picked up my pizza and came back to the campground. Picked my site for the night and got cozy.

It wasn’t long before I ko’d. There’s more adventure in store!
